I bought several copies of my printed book to give family and friends. I didn't tell anyone before I gave them their copy. I remember the day I got the package from Creatspace. I went to my parent's house (since I live in an apartment, I didn't want the box coming here) and showed my dad and sister the surprise I'd told them about. They were both very surprised and very proud.
I then went to my best friend's work to give her a copy. I made sure I signed it. She's the cover artist, so now she has a printed book cover as well.
After her work, I went to my mom's school, where her first graders were just getting out of class. She was shocked to see me there, and I told her I'd wait in her room. She soon came back, and I gave her her copy of Child of Prophecy. I dedicated my book to my parents, and my mom was so proud of me. It was one of the best days of my life. :-)
As a young writer, I'd always wanted to hold my book, in a real printed version, in my hands. I'd held it printed in a binder several dozen times, but this was a completely different feeling!
